This little 18 month old, 6 lb Chihuahua was rescued from a shelter on June 6th. She had been left at the shelter by her owners because their other dog (also left at shelter) had bitten her and damaged her eye - they didn't want to pay for vet expenses.
The bite occurred about 30 days ago which means she had to have been in great pain for about a month. At the time of rescue her eye was severely infected and after taking one look at her, our wonderful vet at East Dallas Surgical Center stayed late on Saturday afternoon to perform the surgery to remove the eye.
Winkie's foster mom says that despite horrible pain she's the sweetest little dog imagineable .. when she met Winkie for the first time at the shelter, she picked her up to soothe her (holding her breath because of the awful smell coming from the eye), and the little dog just hugged her and wouldn't let go.
Please consider making a donation towards Winkie's surgery - we have had several high-cost surgeries this month and we are grateful for all donations (tax deductable).
100% of your donations go towards our vet bills. You can donate by via PayPal by clicking on the Donate Button at the left-hand side of this page.
Winkie will be available for adoption when she has recovered from her surgery.
